Theater Spotlight
Meet Jeanna Phillips: Leading Magnolia's Theater Department
30+ Years of Performing Arts Experience
Before joining The Magnolia School, Jeanna Phillips spent over three decades immersed in the performing arts. Her diverse background spans film production, stunt performance, stand-in roles on multiple films and TV shows, and creative leadership as founder and Creative Director of a local dance studio.
Why Ms. Jeanna Loves Teaching Theater
When asked what drives her passion for theater education, Jeanna shares:
"I believe everyone is an Artist within. Children LOVE imaginary play and truly show freedom of expression in a theater or dance class environment. It's important for me to let kids be kids while building confidence in front of an audience. They can make-believe, create, sing, dance and explore the world of performance art. I love watching them grow more confident each day!"
Original Work: "Bella and The BoyZ"
This summer, Jeanna wrote an original play titled "Bella and The BoyZ." The production teaches students that music is a universal language that brings joy, love, and togetherness into the community.
Spring 2026: Magnolia students will make their debut performance with this original work.
More Than Just Acting
Jeanna understands how vital creative outlets are for young people. She sees the joy on students' faces the moment they enter the theater room.
"I want the students to have an outlet or something to look forward to; whether it's acting, helping with costumes, backdrops, props or music."

Our experience at Magnolia School summer camp was nothing but amazing! The teachers and staff are unbelievable and full of energy. Our son was not yet familiar with the school when he attended the camps, and they made him feel so welcome with open arms. Not only that our son had an amazing time he made new friends. He also learned so much during the time he was there. We look forward to participating in the camps this coming summer. We love our Magnolia School family!

My kids have attended The Magnolia Summer Program for two years now. My son Brock got behind academically [in his public school]. In working with the amazing teachers at The Magnolia School, he was able to get the individual teaching he needed to meet him where he was at with math and fill in the gaps he was missing. Their style of education pushes the kids to keep advancing no matter what “grade level” they are in. My son is in third grade now in the public school system, and with the help he received from the magnolia school math finally clicked for him, and he is receiving amazing grades, and not only keeping up with his peers, but in some cases surpassing them.
The environment at The Magnolia School is so warm and welcoming. It seems like every single teacher knows my kids and what’s going on with them. I love being there and I know my kids are loved and getting the attention they need.

All three of my kids (K, 4th and 6th grades) absolutely loved their summer at Magnolia! The school made learning fun by weaving core subjects of math and English into hands-on activities, like designing their own escape rooms and creating new board games. It was an engaging, positive environment where they grew both academically and creatively. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
